Cancer stinks! There
is simply no other way to say it. Odds are that you probably
know someone close to you who has battled cancer. Two
people close to me have waged that battle—both
my parents. My
mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was eleven. At
that time in my life, cancer equaled death. So
I was convinced my mom would not be in my life to do
all the things that moms do, like picking out
prom dresses, planning my wedding, or grounding me for
talking back like only teenage girls can. Through
chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and reconstructive
surgery, she fought—hard. Ultimately, she won. My
mom redefined the word “cancer” for me at
an early age. It went from meaning “death” to
meaning “curable.”
One month after I graduated
from college, my dad was diagnosed with multiple myeloma,
which is a type of blood cancer. Since
my mom’s victory over cancer ten years earlier
changed what a cancer diagnosis meant to me, I did not
think that my dad was going to die. Like my mom, he fought
hard and put his cancer into remission, and I thought
that was the end of it. Well, it wasn’t. After
more chemotherapy and a failed stem cell transplant,
my dad died at the age of 53, less than three years after
he was diagnosed.
Since my dad passed away, I’ve
stopped trying to redefine what “cancer” means
to me. Now, I just want to do my part to fight
it. If I could handle the sight of blood, I would have
gone back to school to be a doctor. As an alternative,
I quit my promising career with one of the most highly
regarded companies in the United States to start Whoopzie
Daizie Cardz, a company which is committed to donating
20% of our annual net income to the following deserving
cancer related organizations:

We know that without your purchase, we couldn’t
donate a dime. So it only seems fair to let you
have a say in where we send our donations. During
the check-out process, you will have the chance to select
the Cause that you would like us to help fight with our
annual donations. Our contributions to each Organization
will be based on the proportion of the number of cardz
purchased for each Cause to the total number of cardz
purchased that year.
The cure for cancer may seem elusive,
but I know it’s
out there. Research institutions and charities
need ammunition (i.e., money) to continue their efforts
to fight cancer, and our goal is to keep stockpiling
them! For this reason, I can’t thank you enough
for your support in Making Cardz Count in the
fight against cancer.
Sincerely,
Amy Weaver
President
